I’m in Abilene, Texas today visiting the baby sister.

The Meister Mom got to see her youngest son take part in the airshow the 101st Airborne put on for the families of their troops. The show involved units and aircraft from the Air Force, Marines and Navy as well the Army, but the highlight for my mother of course was seeing Captain Nick Meister pilot his CH-47 Chinook during a demonstration of the troop movement capbailities of the 101st.

My baby brother, a Captain and CH-47 Chinook pilot in the 101st Airborne, took time out this week to drive ten hours to our home here in northeast Ohio and speak to the students of Center Street grade school in Mentor.

Nick was a student there from fourth through sixth grade and received a good number of letters from students during his stay in Iraq through a program created by teachers at the school, some of which he himself had during his time there.

Spring is a little over a week and a half away, and the warm sun streaming through the windows inspired little Lima to get some sunbathing in.
