I took this shot at an opportune moment during the setup for the 2008 It’s Better in Mentor Parade this last weekend. I should have video from within the parade up soon.

I came across the fire-damaged Texas Cattle Company building today. Apparently, after having a number of restaurants come and go in the building, the decision was made to use the location for fire training exercises for the local fire department.

The punchline, however, comes from the restaurant sign catch phrase:

DSLReports has an entry up where they do the math on just how much you’re really paying for those cell phone text messages, now that T-Mobile has joined other providers in charging 20 cents per message.

According to the math done by others, those 140 byte messages being sent at 20 cents each add up to $1,310 per megabyte. Considering that the average $20 USB flash drive these days is measure in gigabytes, and the average broadband Internet connection is measured in megabits per second, it’s amazing how much we pay per text message.

As for the reference in the title, it comes from articles on the idea that for the price you pay for the average inkjet printer cartridge, a gallon of printer ink would cost you over $5000.

It’s no secret that sometimes male geeks don’t quite get into the same culture that non-geek women enjoy, such as HBO’s upcoming Sex and the City movie. To help investigate this strange and alien world, Geek Squad agents Ish Matos and Donald Barthelemy boarded one of many Sex and the City guided tours that take fans through the same locations featured in the series.

Fortunately, no agents were harmed during the making of this video.
